Inspired by a vision of a world of dignity, opportunity and community inclusion for all, WILA has defined QUALITY as responsiveness to people rather than compliance with standards. Through an individual team process, we offer those supported by WILA an opportunity to live a meaningful life through personalized quality of life outcomes. Personal outcomes allow people the opportunity to focus on the items and issues that matter most to them.
The term Personal Outcomes refers to the major expectations that we have in our lives. For the individuals we serve, Personal Outcomes are what they need to live safely and happily as participating members of the community. For the WILA Direct Support Professional (DSP), creating personal outcomes requires taking note of what people want out of their lives and communicating this to coworkers and Individual Program Plan (IP) authors. Beyond helping them find their voice, our responsibilities including communicating their wishes.
Life is a journey and defining our own personal outcomes helps us figure out what we want to do, where we want to go and how we are going to get there. Through our life journey we may take unexpected turns or travel in new directions creating opportunities for enhanced growth. At WILA we support clients through their life journey. Together with their family and friends, we write down their personal outcomes allowing for all DSP’s to see the future they have envisioned and to jointly work consistently on the same goals.
